Dowry Ceremony

This is a picture of the dowry ceremony and of our free time with the family. We helped prepare dried tomatoes.

Jomson Airport

As I mentioned, the last day we hiked in the cold rain. Sophia stayed dry under her rain cover. I had to tie a towel around Izzy to dry to keep her dry. We wore two hats. One to try to keep the rain out of our face and another for the cold so the wind didn't get in our ears. There is also a picture of the airport in Jomson. It is a small landing strip in front of a beautiful mountain. The flight goes between many mountains, so it is an adventurous flight.

Kathmandu 5K

Summer ran in the Kathmandu 5k race. It was hilarious how Nepal tried to block traffic for this. They could only do it for about an hour, so the poor marathoners had to run in the traffic. Our run was fun. We had the typical things of Nepal going on during our run. For instance, we had to run around street dogs, trash piles (see pic), street sweepers sweeping the dust right on you as you ran, motorcycles who got through the ropes, and many more things. The finish line(see pic) was in the National Stadium, so it was fun to stay and watch the half marathon runners come in. Unlike in American races, there was no food, juice, etc. afterwards, even though the main juice company here was sponsoring the race. They only had some jugs of water that everyone shared drinking out of, which is a common way of drinking here. Nepali people always drink like this, they just don't touch their mouths to the cup, bottle, whatever. I ran with three other girls and we ran as the Lazy Gringo team so we all ran in our Gringo shirts. It was an experience I will always remember.

Extra: I added a picture of me running along the route that my friend took. Yes there is a many riding a bicycle right next to me and random people walking along the route. Like I said, Nepal did the best they could to block the route!

Independence Day

This is Nepal's version of a dunk tank. Someone sits in the chair. You throw balls at the wooden square on the board that is holding up the bucket. When the board falls down, the bucket dumps on your head. Happy 4th of July!

We went to the beach in Thailand for a few days of restful vacation.

It's raining it's pouring

It's starting to rain here a lot. Sophia is preparing for the monsoon season to begin.

Sophia and Isabelle are always open doors to share the gospel. Many people will talk to me just because I have a blond hair girl and a baby.

Forgery

Nepalis do some funny things. Things like filming movies in the theater and selling them in Nepal for cheap and copying international newspapers on a Xerox and selling them with three large staples along the side like a book. To them it is cheaper than order a bunch of real ones and selling them. But wouldn't you think that all the ink and paper they use for copying them would have been just as cheap as getting the real ones to sell?

Living Water

A volunteer team from Kentucky did a mass distribution of water and gospel tracts to Tibetans around Swayambu. Our prayer is that they will thirst for the Living Water only found in Jesus Christ.
