Making Kapsay for Easter

Its really fun to celebrate Easter in Nepal each year.  Our family traditions focus in on the meaning of the cross; celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Nepali Christians march through the city with loud music blaring and banners raised high to proclaim the victory of Jesus.  Its a fantastic sight.  Among Tibetans, we take advantage of this Christian holiday to explain the significance of the cross.  This year, we made Tibetan bread (called kapsay) in the shape of a cross as a means of explaining the relevance of Christ’s death on the cross for all peoples.

Upward Soccer with Tibetan refugees

In the winter and early spring we coached and played soccer in the Tibetan refugee camp near our home.  We had kids from ages 6 to 13 participate in our 3 month soccer outreach program.  This sports ministry opened many doors to relationships with families and individuals in the camp.

A team of students from Jefferson City, Missouri came to do some sports clinics and English clubs among the Tibetans of Kathmandu. They were awesome!
