Volunteers

A team of students from Jefferson City, Missouri came to do some sports clinics and English clubs among the Tibetans of Kathmandu. They were awesome!

Tibetan Buddhists

Pray for our ministry as all around us are Tibetans bowing down to false gods. Gunchowk (left) is a Tibetan Buddhist who at one point decided to follow Christ, but then one day called Bo to return the Bible to him and told Bo that he wants to follow the teachings of Buddha.

Summer update

Sophia began Kindergarten at KISC (Kathmandu International Study Center) (www.kisc.edu.np/). There are 8 students in her class; three Korean kids, three American kids, one girl from the Netherlands, and one Indian girl. Her teacher is from America and Sophia loves her and her class.

New additions to the family

Our dog, Lhasa, had 8 boxer puppies. The girls love to play with them. The first feeding didn't go so well. The didn't get the hang of eating milk out of a bowl, but then after a few tries, they finally did.

A face only a mother can love

Izzy loves our dog. She is always hugging on her, although we have had to teach her how to do it gently.

More on the medical clinics

Medical clinics

We had a nurse and a single lady come volunteer for us for month in the city. The nurse did a training for some of our national believers to learn how to do basic medical things as an entry strategy to sharing the gospel. Then the next day we held a medical clinic at a Tibetan Refugee Camp. We saw over 40 people and each one of them received a tract with a number on it as they waited to see the nurse. Some people read them as they waited and hopefully others read them later at their home. Pray for these people who need God to heal their hearts spiritually.

Easter Party Cornhole tournament

Cornhole was a new game for many of the Nepali/Tibetan guests that were at the Easter party, but they really enjoyed it. It was a great icebreaker for getting to know our guests.

Easter Outreach Party

We hosted an Easter Outreach Party. After a feast, Bo shared the gospel truth to the lost and then we played egg games with the kids and had a cornhole tournament. This was a great time to share with our new friends about the Resurrection Day.

Tibetan Wedding

We were invited to a Tibetan wedding of our Tibetan language teacher. The katas, blessing scarves, you see are a tradition. Summer did not know that girls give them to the bride and that men give them to the groom and she gave hers to the groom. Oops. The weird thing about this wedding is that there was no ceremony announcing the two have been joined in marriage. We think this is because to them marriage is not ordained by God. It is something you do for dowry, property, security, etc. Sophia enjoyed wearing the Tibetan dress, a chuba, because she said she was a Tibetan princess.

Happy Losar

For Losar, the Tibetan New Year, we passed out the kupsay we made and labeled them with 1 Peter 3:18 to describe the meaning of the cross. We went into 4 families homes that we have close relationships with.

20 kgs of kupsay

We used our closet doors to make table to roll out the dough and cut our shapes out. (If anyone wants to send us a cross cookie cutter for next year, please do!!!!) We cut out a lot of crosses and used heart cookie cutters to make hearts to also share about the love of Christ. It was so much fun and took about 7 hours to make about 20 kilos of kupsay.
